Obsessed with Yohji

I am sure you all  think i am trying to become Yamamoto's official illustrator!
I love his work A LOT and it is such a pleasure to illustrate.
Here an amazing coat from AW14, I would die to have this in my wardrobe.

Back to the basics

When in doubt, go back to basics.
I have drawn several things theses last few days but i was not happy with any of them.
Too over-worked, too pretty, too illustrative for m liking.
i just decided to get a black pen and start drawing those two silhouettes from an old Yamamoto show (SS2000), a pure classique indemodable as far as i am concerned.

black pen, tea.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Undercover AW14

A very cool all white look from the very cool Undercover AW14
Nice casual white trousers and great wrapping of (hopefully of fake) white fur.
It was fun to draw :)
Here in pencil and marker.

Exercise de style in black and white // Yohji Yamamoto AW14

I sort of lost focus for a few days and then decided to post a series of studies based on an outfit from Yamamoto AW14. here are a few variations.
I love the incredible volume of the coat and the dramatic black silhouette.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Maison Martin Margiela (2)

Absolutely fantastic Couture collection from Maison Martin Margiela
I really loved that patchwork dress, the insect looking models with their heads covered.
Here is this one worked in collage and marker, really enjoyed this :)

Str(angela)nd Loves // Maison Martin Margiela

I have always been a fan of MMM, i really like this outfit combining both traditionally masculine and feminine garments.
For this i have used some watercolor, Ink and twig, a bit of white pastel, some chalk and a silver gel pen.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Dries Van Noten (2)

What an incredible outfit from Dries Van Noten AW14 !
I just love the minimalist use of color and the completely incredible psychedelic print.
Here is my version of it in water-colour. I hope i did it justice.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Lanvin

I sharp contrast with yesterday's post here are a few sketches from the Lanvin SS14 collection.
There are so many amazing looks in this collection I honestly couldn't choose one.
A bit of collage with shiny paper and quick freehand sketches with bright pens.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Missoni

This dress by Missoni is absolutely stunning,  Ilove the plack and white simplicity, the movement and rhythm of the dress makes it really edgy and sophisticated yet it looks so easy to wear.
I gave it a nice black and white treatment with different sized marker pens.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Yohji Yamamoto

I truly LOVE Yohji Yamamoto. this collection ss14 where he reworks some of his classic pieces with HighVis colours is just great and refreshing while keeping his personal touch intact.
I have worked this one in HighVis marker-pens loose colour blocks and added the outline and details last.

Str(angela)nd Loves // Prada

I had a little fun and experiment with that one,
I really loved the Prada collection SS14 and wanted to capture the boldness and spontaneity of it.
I used paint and bold colors in a freehand style.
The illustration is not completely faithful to the original but the pop art spirit is definitely there

Str(angela)nd Loves // Gareth Pugh

I haven't illustrated anything in ages, so going back slowly into the swing of things and playing around a bit to free my hand and spirit.

This is a model from Gareth Pugh amazing SS14 collection, I have always loved an all black look and the amazing head piece (or is it a fur hood) is just stunning!

I did this one pretty quickly, painting straight with the tube to get the main silhouette and adding face and detail afterwards.
